Modern Farmhouse Series
The Farmhouse design style has deep roots in America’s agricultural history, when it was widely adopted for being both practical and comfortable. Central to the design style is a warm hearth for the family to gather during cold winters. Heavy timbers, the most practical material for construction at the time of the settlers, support the entire structure while providing the signature cozy atmosphere that is a staple of farmhouses. The traditional lofted children’s bedrooms with slanted roofs and exposed timbers fill the childhood memories of countless American’s to this day.

Dream & Define
Start defining the legacy home you’ve always wanted. If you need some inspiration, check out online galleries and home plans, draw inspiration from communities on social media, and compile a photo list of your favorites. While you are at it, start to research budget, building process, and define the important program features of your legacy home.
A new home that is naturally beautiful draws inspiration from its setting, so placement is key. Find your dream location, purchase the land, and research municipality requirements. Power, water, and sewage access all play a part in budgeting for a new home.
Design & Budget
Time to put your dream on paper! Communicating and working closely with your trusted architect is critical at this stage, as the key is bringing your dream home to life without stretching your budget out of your comfort zone. Remember: Simplicity saves; complexity costs.
Terms, Schedule, Payments
Select your financier, builder, and contractors. Construction is a fluid process, so be sure to keep on top of expenses and deadlines. Whether you’re purchasing materials or developing a payment schedule, always keep the lines of communication open with your general contractor and be flexible.
Here’s where all your planning comes together. Be sure to take lots of photos!
Bernard “Barney” Danzansky and his brother-in-law founded Equity Development Group, LLC, a real estate development firm, back in 2006 and added Comet Construction, a commercial general contracting business, to the Equity corporate umbrella during the great recession of 2008.
Barney joined Woodhouse as an Independent Sales Representative in 2022, while he was constructing a Woodhouse structure that he purchased from them. Barney was impressed with the incredible value, exceptional service, energy-efficiency and manufacturing quality of the Woodhouse product; Woodhouse was looking for an in-residence Independent Sales Representative to service prospective clients in areas of Western North Carolina.
